Harper Adams University - Prospectus 2024

“Without studying Zoology, I would still be working a job I hated doing.” Says Applied Zoology graduate, Gemma Hill. Instead Gemma spent her placement studying cetacean behaviour with whale watchers and saving turtles half-way across the globe while working remotely for a turtle sanctuary in Mexico. “Zoology gives you an in-depth insight into the animal kingdom and environmental processes that shape our world as we know it today. It’s so broad you can easily go in several directions when you finish - whether that’s employment or further education the choices are endless.” “100% both of my placements taught me some fantastic life lessons and taught me a lot of new skills. Both positions helped me uncover my dream of working in marine biology which I still aim to pursue in future years!” With an Applied Zoology degree, you can undertake a wide variety of careers. You may find yourself conserving endangered species and habitats, addressing animal health issues, improving agricultural livestock, or engaged in research or science communications. Or you may work in disease and pest control, in field research centres, in animal welfare and education, or perhaps developing policies and regulations.
