Turning scraps into riches, Camproposed that his placement employer reconditioned redundant technology to sell back to consumers. “Ologic, where I didmy placement, repairs technology for insurance providers – but a lot of the things our engineers receive just aren’t fixablewithin claim guidelines, so they get scrapped; literally! I proposed these products were recycled and, with the help of our engineers, are rebuilt into newdevices that we can then sell as refurbished technology.” With this ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ mentality, Cam establishedwhat would become a separate department, hired two employees and came to manage the ecommerce and sales area for his project – an achievement which saw its turnover skyrocket 317 per cent and awarded Cama perfect score fromhis employer. “My placement was invaluable” says Cam. “I chosemy Harper degree to giveme the biggest platform to stand onwhen I leave university so that’s what I intend to do. I can’t wait to seewhere [my degree] takesme.” Readmore here. Student Story: CamStephenson HARPER.AC.UK | 33
