Harper Adams University - Prospectus 2024

Campus At Harper we believe in a hands-on, true to life approach to learning—meaning you will have to ask questions, experience everything on offer and not be afraid to get a bit muddy in the process! You’ll be learning from live practice and research on the Future Farm, creating innovative new products in the Food Academy, developing animal health skills in the Veterinary Education Centre or putting self-built robots through their paces in the Soil Hall. Everything you achieve at Harper has a real-world, practical purpose – which is why we’ve created a wide range of specialist resources to help you on your way. Read on to discover more about our key hubs of learning. University Farm Tucked in the midst of our scenic community campus is the Harper Adams Future Farm— that’s 494-hectares for you to learn, explore and innovate ‘in the field’… literally. Our livestock holdings include 400 dairy cows and 340 followers managed in a cutting-edge dairy unit, 230 sows, two sheep flocks and a beef unit. Jean Jackson Entomology Building With its unseasoned larch and Douglas fir exterior, its living roof, and nearby pond Jean Jackson is set in a biodiversity haven... But the really exciting stuff happens inside – where temperature and light controlled rooms house a range of plants and the insects that live on them, ready for researching entomological behaviour. Veterinary Facilities The Veterinary Education Centre (VEC) is home to state-of-the-art facilities for clinical skills teaching, lectures, professional development and breakout space for you to unwind after a day of practicals. With wet and dry labs, consulting and hydrotherapy rooms (in the nearby Veterinary Services Centre) and access to the cuddly and the scaly in the nearby Companion Animal House, there’s plenty to learn and explore at Harper. In September 2022, the VEC saw another £500,000 investment, developing our Veterinary Nursing facilities; including a refurbishment of the surrounding building, as well as purchasing equipment for animal handling and housing and large animal anatomy models. 110 | UNDERGRADUATE PROSPECTUS 2024
