Every degree course at Harper Adams includes a placement year and the reason is simple. Employers want graduates who have real- world experience, plenty of industry-leading ideas, as well as knowing their subject inside out — and that's where you come in! You will: • gain experience and knowledge • learn new things and tackle challenges • meet people and develop networks • make business decisions and understand planning processes • manage money and even staff • use your initiative and take responsibility We see the difference in our students when they get back from placement – they’re more confident, focused and ready to take on the world! They understand which path they want to take, and what they need to do in their final year of studies to get there. Our placement years are entirely student led; you’ll choose where you want to work and in which industry – but don’t worry, we’re always on hand to guide and help. Every subject area has its own placement manager who works with the placement team to help you find and settle into a role that you love – they’ll evenmake regular onsite visits throughout the year to offer advice and support. If you don’t know where to start when looking for your placement; then let us take the reins. We work with hundreds of employers in the UK and overseas, who advertise through our website, or supply equipment or learning on campus – so we might have one or two connections! Of course, if you already have somewhere in mind, you can find your own placement opportunity. Most roles are paid; while others offer benefits such as accommodation, training or use of a company car. Some years in industry are linked to our scholarships, which provide funding during study years at the university as well as a paid job for your year in industry.
