Harper Adams University - Prospectus 2024
What is a contextualised offer? Put simply, if you meet criteria to show that you have been disadvantaged in your life and/or education so far, but we believe you could succeed with the right support, we will reduce our usual entry requirements, usually by one grade, to give you a better chance of securing your place to study at Harper Adams. Find out more and check the criteria at harper.ac.uk/access. to embark upon degree study to help you pursue your passion, advance your learning or change career entirely. You might be eligible for a place without the usual academic grades. You might wish to consider our Degrees with Foundation Years to get you back into the swing of things and up to speed (page 80) or you might be exempt from completing the placement year if you already have sufficient, relevant work experience, and therefore would be able to achieve an honours degree in three years rather than four. I can’t afford to come to travel for an interview – will I be at a disadvantage compared to other candidates? Not at all. Very few courses now require you to interview and we are able to provide financial support towards the costs of attending an interview if you are a UK resident who is in receipt of free school meals or is care experienced. Furthermore, several of our course teams are making more telephone advice and interview sessions available, as an alternative to in-person sessions. I want towork in agriculture, but have no access to farmwork experience? Although work experience is encouraged for our Agriculture programme, it is no longer a requirement. However, we do offer additional support to those from non- traditional farming backgrounds to get you up to speed. What happenswhen I getmy results? All applicants with a strong application will receive additional consideration at confirmation if they do not exactly meet the conditions of their offer (subject to places being available). Eligibility Your application will routinely be checked to see if you qualify for a contextualised offer and you will be advised if this is the case in our offer communications.
