Harper Adams University - Prospectus 2024
Different paths to university - Apprenticeships Our Degree Apprenticeships offer a different route to higher education. If you ever wondered if it is possible to combine earning and learning– this might be the perfect path for you. Available via an eligible employer, your apprenticeship is first and foremost a job. It might take up to five years and will require working a minimum of 30 hours per week, but a degree apprenticeship is flexible, leaves you with no student loans and allows you to build valuable work experience while studying. Many employers will advertise their vacancies via the Government’s ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ service, so if you’re not sure where to look, this is a great place to start. You’ll then need to apply directly through the employer advertising the opportunity, not UCAS. So, a great CV and covering letter are key – you can always look on the govwebsite for more information. Because the degree is funded entirely by your employer, there won’t be any tuition to pay, nor will you be able to apply for any student loans. However, Degree Apprenticeships should not be seen as “easier” than a traditional degree; they require great time management and the ability to juggle working and studying simultaneously. Nevertheless, it’s an attractive option for anyone balancing other commitments such as a family or childcare, those who are already in employment and anyone looking for even more ‘on the job’ learning than you get with the highly applied Harper Adams degrees.
