Harper Adams University - Prospectus 2024
We are sometimes asked about the benefits of doing a four-year Harper Adams degree rather than a three- year course elsewhere. The reason is simple: our placement year. Employers now need engineering graduates who have that real-world experience, who can push the boundaries of their learning – but not be afraid to make mistakes – and who have the industry-leading ideas they’re looking for. This is where our placement year comes in. We see the positive difference in our engineering students when they get back from placement – they’re more confident, resilient and ready to take on the world! They understand which path they want to take, and what they need to do in their final years of study to get there. In fact, 81% of our graduates are using what they learnt at Harper in their work post- university – a sector high, and proof our placement year really works!* We’re confident, that when you leave Harper Adams, you’ll be the tried and tested graduate that employers can feel confident in, having had the time and scope to explore your ideas, discover your engineering passions and giving you the skills, you need to stand out from the crowd. And for anyone wondering about our five-year MEng options – our integrated Master of Engineering routes, through our course accreditation, are designed such that graduates are eligible for initial registration for Chartered Engineering status. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) describes an Incorporated Engineer as an applications-based engineer who works with the technology that is available, while a Chartered Engineer specialises in analysis, creating the technology of tomorrow. *Graduate Outcomes 2022 Our Engineering Society isn’t just an extension of your degree but a space to meet like-minded, engineering- enthusiastic students across all backgrounds and course areas. As well as the social side, the society helps build relationships within industry and keeps you up to date with all the biggest and latest technical developments. So, whether you are seeking a placement/graduate role and looking for some inspiration, or just interested in expanding your engineering knowledge, there are opportunities for everyone. Click here to find out more. Accredited by IAgrE on behalf of the Engineering Council, our three course areas are routed in core engineering skills – so you know every step you take towards graduation means taking a step toward professional engineering recognition. * Explaining how we learn wouldn’t be complete without mentioning some of our facilities.
