Harper Adams University Postgraduate Prospectus

Josie Palmer “My postgraduate course has been both hugely valuable and integral tomy career.” Josie Palmer is a local partner in Fisher German’s Thame office. She graduated in 2005 with PgD Rural Environment and Land Management. “The structure of Harper Adams’ part-time programme was the greatest draw. As I already had a good job I did not want to leave this for a full-time course. “The course fit really well alongside my other commitments, it was immediately relevant and gave me good practical insight, plus I thoroughly enjoyed making new friends, pretty much all of whom are now successful rural professionals, whether for surveying firms or in other consultancy roles. “Completion of the postgraduate course was one big tick on my list towards achieving my career goals. Within less than a year I qualified both as a Chartered Surveyor and as a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. I also moved to a new and better job within a firm for whom I worked for ten years, principally doing Estate Management. After a brief stint in a resident agent position I am now thrilled to have recently moved to Fisher German as a Local Partner.” Jordan Ryder “The teaching staff and quality of taught modules are brilliant. This is supplemented by visiting lectures from institutions such as the Natural History Museum and Wye Bugs; thus insuring we gain the appropriate specialist knowledge in a range of subject areas. Harper Adams continues to be one of the few universities that continues to expand despite current economic hardships, investing money in a variety of resources including the entomology resource room and the new entomology building and laboratories.” Jordan Ryder MSc Integrated Pest Management Jordan is now a PhD student at Harper Adams, researching the importance of nutrition for solitary bees and bumblebees – implications for pesticides and stewardship. harper.ac.uk/jordan-r Lindsay Fairbrother “I chose to study at Harper Adams because I wanted to expand my knowledge of animal healthcare in order to cater for clients in pet and farming communities. I enjoyed the teaching and felt well supported, and the course gave me a chance to meet fellow professionals in the field.” Lindsay Fairbrother PgDVeterinary Pharmacy Lindsay owns and manages a community pharmacy in Derbyshire. harper.ac.uk/lindsay-f 41
