The Careers Service Our friendly Careers Service offers professional advice and guidance and encourages students to keep in regular contact, so staff can get to know you and how the service can best meet your needs. The Careers Service is based in the Faccenda student centre at the heart of the campus. Advice tailored for you Students and recent graduates benefit from our one-to-one advice, exploring their career options and receiving personally tailored advice and guidance from Careers Service staff. Build your CV We can help you build a CV that shows off your skills and experience through our regular workshops on drafting CVs, covering letters and application forms. Preparing for interviews Our interview workshops give students the chance to find out more about recruitment processes, and to work on their interview skills and group work abilities in a safe environment. We also stage mock interviews – individual appointments where you can practice being interviewed, with questions tailored to roles you might be applying for. Job vacancies Whether you are looking for a part-time job whilst studying or a full-time position after graduating the latest jobs news and vacancies across the sector are posted on our online vacancy service. The Careers Service provides a weekly e-mail bulletin of job vacancies submitted by employers. Network with employers More than 80 employers attend our annual Careers and Placement Fair to talk to students about placement and graduate opportunities within their organisations. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet potential employers and recruiters. Throughout the year we also arrange industry networking events and welcome employers on campus to speak to students and advertise their vacancies and recruitment schemes. Psychometric tests Many employers use psychometric tests to identify a candidate’s aptitudes or personality. Careers staff can provide an overview of the purpose and nature of these tests and how you can prepare for them. The Virtual Learning Environment/ Learning Hub Harper Adams’ Learning Hub is an online tool bursting with resources to help both students and graduates study and develop, offering support throughout their career journey.
