Fittonia Elgina, from Indonesia, is a current PhD student researching the development and evaluation of an on-farm cost-effective biosensor method for Campylobacter detection in poultry. Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK, with around four in five cases originating from contaminated poultry. harper.ac.uk/fittonia FITTONIA ELGINA PhD researcher Ayoola Jongbo, from Nigeria, is a PhD researcher working on modelling the influence of microclimate on behaviour, surface temperature and core body temperature of broilers. His study is sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Nigeria through the Federal University of Technology, where he also works as a lecturer. “One of the biggest benefits of studying in UK is the accessibility to research materials.
